Who we are
Human-led by Nature.
We are Clay, a creative studio built on strategy, design and culture — turning ideas into bold, commercially focused visual work. With experience across agencies, global brands, retail, automotive, hospitality and live events, we blend strategic thinking with hands-on creativity to deliver thoughtful, bespoked solutions across print, digital, motion and video for clients throughout the UK, US, EMEA and APAC. Since launching Clay, job titles have become slightly irrelevant — on any given day we're self-proclaimed tea connoisseurs, office dog walkers and “New Idea”
We collaborate on large-scale campaigns, brand experiences and everyday creative challenges, always focused on clarity, craft and impact. When we're not designing, we're usually seeking inspiration in the real world, spending time with family, or exploring the ideas, culture and experiences that influence the work we create.
Meet the Partners

Martin Roskilly
Founder & Senior Graphic Designer
Martin, often jokingly referred to by Joe as the “The Relic”, is a creative production specialist and senior graphic designer with over three decades of experience working across agencies, corporate brands, retail, automotive, hospitality and live events. He has art directed work across a wide range of projects throughout his career, combining strategic thinking with hands-on design to deliver polished, commercially focused solutions. He works across print, digital, motion and video for brands in the UK, US, EMEA and APAC, collaborating on large-scale campaigns and events — balancing this with Joe’s dry sarcasm wit
When he gets free time, it’s usually spent with his son, trying to keep up on the PlayStation (which increasingly feels like an early warning sign for arthritis). Otherwise he’s recovering in the best way possible — browsing Pokémon card shops with his son or spotting canal boats and fishing, which, in his world, counts as proper downtime.
Seph Lander
Founder & Creative Director
Joe is the creative counterpoint to Martin — a rebellious, idea-led designer shaped by the Grey London era, when advertising still had room for rule-breakers. Working across brands including Nike, Vodafone and YO! Sushi, he built a reputation as an art director with a sharp instinct for work that refuses to blend in. Part strategist, part maker, part collector, Joe’s creative curiosity extends well beyond the studio. His work is driven by storytelling, craft and ideas with character — design that carries energy, humour and intent in equal measure.
When he’s not shaping campaigns or concepts, he’s usually hand-painting signs, hunting down vintage matchboxes, or volunteering in his local charity shop. Behind the humour and creative restlessness sits a genuine belief in the power of ideas well made — and a refusal to take the predictable route if there’s a more interesting one available. Together, Joe and Martin bring different instincts to the same goal — one driven by ideas and creative disruption, the other by craft and production experience. It’s a balance of perspective and execution that shapes the work in equal measure. The Yin and Yang of CL4Y — different approaches, shared intent: to make work that is thoughtful, distinctive and well made.

Ruby Snax
Founder & Human Resources
Ruby, the poodle who likes to doodle is a baroness turned creative bandit and proud member of the creative resistance at cl4y. A fierce advocate for inclusivity, female empowerment, and proper snack allocation, she specialises in human relations, emotional support, and maintaining morale across the studio floor. She also enjoys drinking plenty of water — when the AI data centres aren’t draining it all first.
When not overseeing creative operations, Ruby can usually be found sleeping in the corner after getting bored of Martin & Joe’s rambles, standing guard for the postman or some of the studio’s regular stalkers — being the creative celebrities we are — and collecting treats whenever Martin and Joe manage
to find spare budget that week.
